Carb settings MF 85

I just bought a MF85 at an auction for $1200 and when I got it home, it wouldn't start. It started and ran good at the auction , but now I just can't get it to fire. I checked for spark, and I have a good spark. When I took the plugs out they were all black and wet with gas, so I assumed the carb was flooding.

I took all the plugs out and sand blasted them clean, and I took the carb off and cleaned that. My question is, what is the initial setting of the idle screw and the top of the carb, and what is the setting of that large brass screw sticking out of the side of the bowel? When I took that large screw out, it was turned all the way in. Is the setting?

If this is a M/S carb top screw is Idle set it at 1.5 turns from bottom and leave it. The lower screw is the main jet and starting point is 2 turns out Once you have it running then set the main jet so it runs well and has no black smoke. One should be able to open up the main to the point you get black smoke and if you cannot then you still have a problem

Does a MF 85 have a type of safety switch?

No switch for fuel shutoff on the carb, but did come with a safety start switch on top of the transmission, switch closes the circuit with the Hi-Lo lever in the center.

If the high/low range shifter on the transmission is not in the middle position (or S position between H, and L) it will not allow the starter to work using the key.
