carberator on 2010

The carberator on our 2010 has been extremely erratic. When you open the throttle and whenever you put it into a pull it misses. Has new electronic igination in Dec. Plug and points are good. Burns an excessive amount of fuel. Any suggestions or is there a different carberator that will work on a 2010? We have been told there isn't.

You are right. No points. Just automatically put that with the plugs.

Did you check the timing with a timing light AND verify that the centrifugal spark advance is working properly after you installed your "solves all problems" EI?

No I have not. I will have my friend that can do that come over and check it. Thanks

Your carburetor may need a good cleaning and a kit followed by adjustment, as well as a proper setting of the timing.

I have been told that the oringinal carberator was not the best. Are there better ones out there that can be put on a 2010?

The 2010 came with a Marvel Schebler TSX-series carburetor, which were generally a good product.

I doubt that there is anything inherently wrong with your carburetor that require it to be replaced with a different make or series, not to say it may not have issues that need to be addressed.

As always, it would be GREAT if you could find someone familiar and knowledgeable with a 2010 gas to have a look at it!

Check the manifold for holes in and the manifold gasket, if it is sucking air then the air to fuel ratio will be off.

If you remove the fuel line from the carb, do you have a solid stream of fuel coming out?

Do you have good gas?

Pull the fitting from the carb that the fuel line threads into, there is a screen in there, is it plugged?

Zenith makes a replacement carb, but in my experience send your carb out and have it rebuilt.

Carb can be sucking air through the throttle and choke shafts.

Paddles can be worn, plugged jets, and plugged passages in the carb can cause your issues just as much as having a bad manifold, manifold gasket, to carb to manifold gasket.
