Carbman Gary

CMM

New User
After wrestling with my carburator, I finally gave up and sent the darned thing to Gary (GB in MT). He found one of the passages so crudded up, he had to drill it out. The rod that holds the throttle butterfly was from the land of almost right, but it wasn't even almost right. He replaced.

The PO had drilled and tapped a half inch hole in the bottom of the base and had plugged with a half inch pet cock.

Gary and I talked several times about the carb and whether it was even worth salvaging. Gary NEVER gave up. He got a new throttle rod, plugged the half inch hole in the bottom of the carb and sent it back to me.

Since a Jube's carb is on the left side of the tractor, Gary couldn't test it before sending back to me, but he set the adjustments just like he would for an N.

I installed and called Gary. I held the phone to the tail pipe, Gary directed me to adjust the fuel air mix. After a couple of tries, the old girl purred like a kitten.

I jerked the throttle to full, not a hesitation. I dropped the throttle to idle, purred at 450 RPM.

All the adjustments might have taken 15 minutes. Gary was there, even though he was 1500 miles away.

If anyone has any concerns with their M/S Carb, Gary is the MAN!!!

His price is more than reasonable. And in spite of the fact that he is a carb genius, he's a nice guy to boot. He never made me feel like a doofus. Doofus is a technical term that describes a CPA woring on a carb(me).

My Jube runs like a top now, and Gary gets all the credit. He does need a new mirror...ask him.

If it's ok with Gary, perhaps you would like to give his contact info so that people like me can tuck it away for when we need it.

You're absolutely right on about Gary. He did a tsx33 for me a while back .We talked on the phone while I tuned it up.The tractor I put it on is the best running one(out of 4 of the N's I have.I agree, "He's the man".

Wow, Mike;
One heck of a good post, and advertizement for the "Carb. Shack".
I'm happy for you, that the carb works good, and you are happy with the out-come. 8)
I always cringe, at the thought of how many of those M/S carbs, end up in someones trash can!!!! Throw away society, is where this country seems to be heading. :(

Thanks for the neat write-up!!!!! :wink:
