Carburetor issues

I have a 1952 TEa 20 serial # 283660. It has a Zenith carburetor. I noticed that there is gas leaking from the hose that connects to the air filter. This does not seem right. This hose looks original and I will replace after I figure out what's up with the leak. Any ideas.

Appears as if the float in the carb is sticking and allowing fuel to continue flowing. Shut off the fuel line at the sediment bowl shutoff.

mhdavi,

3 things come to mind. You either have a worn float needle assembly or you have some gunk stuck in the seat holding the needle open. Also, you can have a leaky float that is water logged with gas and won't float anymore.

You don't have to rebuild it but you have to take the carb off to check the float and needle valve. You should be able to replace/repair either of those without having to go further unless you want to put a rebuild kit in.

Sometimes a sticking float can be cured at least temporatily by wrapping the carb with a dead blow hammer or block of wood to free it up. Then put in good gas, maybe with some cleaner, and always cut off the gas at the tank when finished. But a rebuild may be needed....
