carburetor question

Does anybody ever replace the throttle shaft plugs in a 51 carb? My kit doesn't have them, and looking around, they seldom do.

What is this carb. off of ? Are you talking about the cup plug that is on the bottom that goes into the throttle shaft bushing counterbore ? I reuse them or replace them all the time. I think I have a few in a drawer of my carb. parts. Deere and maybe others sell them separately.

The bowl vent baffles are avail. too. I have seen lots of them without them installed ,but this could lead to extra getting fuel sucked in on a bump I'd think. I'd get some and put them in.

You are referring to the bowel vent baffles. I get mine from "Buerry's Carburetor" If I suspect a restricted vent circuit I remove
them to clean vent passages and usually wreck them in process. Like Mike said, it will run without them but the gas carburetors
with correct float run a higher fuel level than the All fuel carburetor with lower fuel level / float and in event you bounce front
of tractor raw fuel / gas will be digested through vent circuit and cause tractor to smoke / go rich when this happens. I would put
them back in if it was my job to recondition this series of carburetor. DW
