Rebuilding my Marvel-Schebler TSX series
carburetor. Which way does the VENTURI go into
the body?
I checked my FO-4 Manual but cannot tell from
text or photos. (See Fig. FO51, pg. 40)

One end of the VENTURI is flat ring and the other
a trumpet shape.

It will only fit one way and be snog. Each end fits into a little lip area in the parts. I could go out in my shop and look and tell you. But hey since I have a rebuild kit here I just looked and the bigger end goes up towards the throttle shaft and the smaller end down towards the float bowl area

Thank you guys!! Put the Carb back together as you said. Will try to start again after a few more tune-up tasks. I will report back to the forum. Great Forum!!

(quoted from post at 18:21:48 03/10/15) I buy most of them right here on YT.
I like the C546 kit listed [b:415d043141]here[/b:415d043141] for N's.

I remember years ago that Rustbucket Dan had problems with the jet sizes in the carb kits . Have you noticed any problems lately ?

I believe he would check them with a drill bit index . He figured it out when he could not get a low idle rpm . Think he said that he bought three new kits and the jet package would be marked one size but the actual jet was way bigger in some cases .

Just wondering how quality control is going these days .

I'm not Royce but I buy my kits from O'Reilly's auto parts. Cost is around $20 and a pretty good kit. They are made by Walker and the kit number is 778-505A been using them for decades

IT WORKS!! Runs Nice and Smooth. Thanks again for all of your comments. Glad to be a part of this forum. (1948 8N24342)

It has gotten better Ken, but I still check every jet as you say.
It sure beats taking it back apart and doing it again.

Nothing wrong with that Walker kit Rich, but it is like YT sells as
a "basic" kit and what I like to call a "cleaning" kit. Take it apart,
clean it, put in new gaskets. Not really a rebuild.
It contains maybe 1/2 as many parts as the comprehensive kit?
I've never really counted the parts in the basic kit.
I have serious doubts about it being made in America, but I'd be
happy to see one that is!
O'Reilly's could not get me a complete kit when I asked them.

Glad to hear you got it back together and running Dick!
I agree, this forum is a great wealth of knowledge.

Looking right at the box right now. Says MADE IN USA right on the box. Bit more then a basic kit but yes less then a complete kit. Plus it has gaskets for 2 sizes of the M/S carbs.

it has to flow upward so the venturi speeds up the air flow through the constriction with the wider end on top. just like an airplane wing, which is kind of cool

Not every carb needs ALL new parts... Its a waist of money to buy a comprehensive kit for every rebuild... I buy all the carb parts separate stock them in a nice storage box and sell whats needed.. Even a comprehensive kit does not come with every thang...

10 to 15 bucks worth of parts would be the norm... But Some need it all plus some more...

I am a float killer always have been I have the tools to weigh them out but rarely use it... Its out in my hand it gets a new'N so I can understand the comprehensive kit thang...

I have never read here were someone weighs the float I spec its a brass thang and rarely fails... Most of what I have worked on is not brass,,, When a brass float fails it will eat your lunch....
