Carburetor troubles

Well I spent about three hours sitting under a bridge waiting for the tow truck yesterday. Drove to town and when I started back up gas drained out of the carb. and all over the manifold. Wouldn't start. 1981 Ford, F 100, 300 inch six with the 1 bbl. I don't know where the leak was coming from and when I got it off the engine I still couldn't tell. Any guesses?? Fortunately I had a new rebuilt one in my closet just incase. Sure came in handy, I was back on the road in about an hour. Ellis

A 1 barrel Carter? Did they have a screw in filter like the 2150's? Or a banjo fitting?

Look for a bad accelerator pump diaphragm or power valve. Jim
