Carpet cleaner?

Restlessness

New User
As a gift our daughter bought us (me) a Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe several years ago and I use it every year to clean our beige carpet which is about 1000 sq ft total. It does a wonderful job. I do parts of a large room and rooms one at a time. The only drawback is emptying the dirty tank and filling the clean water tank about every 25-35 sq ft as the tanks hold about a gallon each.

I bought a Hoover Elite. It has an attachment to clean sofa, chairs, car carpet. It too has two 1
gallon tanks. Easy to remove and dump the dirty water. I'm impressed with the dirt it picks up. It
claims to dry 2X faster. I think it lives up to that claim. It has a third compartment to add the
cleaner. I use ODOBan cleaner which I buy at Sam's.
Yes it's slow, but I'm retired. It does a good job too.

I have a rental that I'll be cleaning soon. The guy I rented it to for the past 15 years was a smoker.
The carpet looks like new. I'm hoping the ODOBan can kill the smoke smell. Normally I would call in a
commercial carpet cleaner. He uses ODOBan cleaner. I'm thinking it will take many attempts to remove the
smell so I'll give it a try with the Hoover.

Geo, after you don't get the smell out, see if you can find some chlorine dioxide. It is an industrial product, and I have given a unit each to three different friends that had just bought places. They all said that it worked where nothing else did.

Geo, Its Chlorine Dioxide.

Common chemical used in things like some Mouth Wash, Water Purification both at water plant and small tablets sold in sporting good stores and most places that sale camping supplies.
