Having hard time to ajust the carburator on my 55 to35.The timing is + 7degre and plug # 1 2 3 are a nice gray and the # 4 show just a bit of gray at the end of the electrode. The car. is a carter ut. Is it a good carburator, should i get it rebuilt ??

The timing on this engine is 6 deg BTDC if it is the 6.6:1 type. at idling speed 450rpm and at 2000rpm 30deg +or- 2 deg.
When you are trying to set the Carb, are you running the idling speed at 450rpm or less and the Engine at full working temperature (not just warm) You don't actually say what the problem is and how the engine is running but it may not be the Carburettor it could be electrics. are the points set correctly (.022) are the Plugs the correct type and set correctly (.025") Champion D16 or equivalent / AC 85S Com / Auto-lite BT-8
Is there any wear in the Distributor shaft bearings, if there is it will cause the points to vary their gap when running.Have you changed the Condenser recently, they do fail often. When did you last have the Air Cleaner off the tractor and wash it out..John(UK)[email protected]
