Carter Carburetor Main Jet

I just rebuilt a carter UT series carb on the Ferguson 40 using repair kit #: BK201V and have some issues.

There is a problem with the main jet. The main jet and mating bushing have a loose fit due to worn threads. Gas leaks thru this loose thread connection. The picture in this post shows the main jet and bushing installed in the carburetor.

I want to replace the main jet and bushing but Carter Carb rebuild kit part # BK201V, for sale on this website does not include a main jet. Also, this rebuild kit does not appear to have an o-ring that fits between the bushing and carb body.

I?ve searched the internet but cannot find a rebuild kit with main jet.

Where can I buy a new main jet and bushing?

By the way, with the rebuilt carb installed, the tractor starts but it coughs, sputters and dies. The idling screw is properly adjusted so I think the reason for the sputtering is the leaking main jet.

Try wrapping with Teflon tape. Does the tractor try to run by pulling the choke, if so your starving for gas most likely.

There should be a ring of "packing" inside the carb that gets squashed tight as you tighten the brass "nut" that the needle thread through.

Teflon tape MAY work (if it doesn't squeeze out), you should be able to wrap a thin string of "graphited packing" around the needle on the carb side of the brass, then screw it in place, tightening enough to stop the leak. If the brass "bottoms out" before the leak is stopped, take it back out and wrap another length of the graphited packing around it, then reinstall.

Grafited packing is available at places selling plumbing supplies.
