case 070 hydraulic pressure

Hi guys I have an 1978 case 1070 serial number after 8675001. I just rebuilt the clutch, new hydraulic pump, filter and new transmission control valve. Everything was running smoothly I have over 150 hours on it now.

My issue after parking it for a week I have to prime up my clutch to get my hydraulic pressure up to shift. When tractor is running hydraulic on the dash gauge is normal when clutch is pushed i loose my pressure and have to build it up again.

It seems that its sucking air somewhere or is it a valve that is not closing to keep the pressure up when I need it. Please help

Thanks

Please explain what you do to prime the clutch and does everything work normal after that? Do your 3pt arms go up and down properly? Rod.

Hi Rod, My 3pt hitch arms, pto steering everything work fine. When I depress the clutch pedal after tractor is sitting or just sitting even running. My hydraulic pressure drops. So I have to hold the clutch in for a few sec then let go and push it in again probably like six time. Every-time I do it builds my pressure up more and more. Until I get my pressure back up again to change gears and hear that winding noise in the clutch. Once pressure is reached its only there for a few minutes and I will have to do it again but doensn't take as long for it to charge back up.

Not sure if its sucking air somewhere or a valve not closing that holds the pressure.

Pumping the clutch pedal makes no sense whatsoever. I would check the linkage from the pedal to the inching spool and make sure the spool is traveling to it's proper limits. If everything is correct with the linkage, I would then suspect a leak in the feed tubes or the rotary manifold that feeds oil to the clutch packs.

Hi Adirondack, yes pumping the clutch may not make sense, I just figured when clutch the clutch is not depressed I have normal hydraulic pressure on the gauge so pushing it in for a few seconds then release and do it again would help.

Anyway's all linkage including spool all good. I don't know what is the rotary manifold.

I did install new feed tubes with oil rings they should be good.

The only oil I can find dripping out is from my power steering pump.

Hopefully we can figure this thing out. Running out of ideas.
