CASE 1030 Hi-Lo

I have my sons Case 1030 in the shop. Late model, 8 speed very hard to shift Hi/Lo with the lever on the dash panel. I removed the floor plate and disconnected the linkage from the shift lever to operate it manually, all linkage moved freely and is not worn. It shifts up and down for low to high but hard to move, with or with out tractor running and using the clutch. I know I will need to remove top cover to repair, what should I be looking for??? If you can shift it from High to Low, just lube the linkage and forget about your presumed issues about hard lever movement. It takes a bit of clutching. It is not a high end sports car with constant mesh transmission, just a straight cut gear crash and crunch gear transmission tractor. ------Loren
