Looking at craigslist and saw a case 1030 that has antifreeze in oil and was wondering if theirs a way to tell if the heads cracked or a bad head gasket?
Thanks,

More likely to be bad sleeve o-rings.
Pull the oan and look for where it's
coming from. But it's likely that you
will find cracked heads too. The good
news is most heads are repairable.

Yea no doubt it has at least one cracked head, my concern is the crank. Pistons and sleeves is no big deal for me, but if the crank is bad thats a little out of my league!

Cranks are not that bad, can likely be turned if it's original. If not they are not hard to find or real expensive.

He says motor is tight so it probably need rebuilt. What do you think its worth? Wants $2200 obo, I figured depending on tin condition likely scrap price. https://milwaukee.craigslist.org/grd/d/west-bend-1030-case/6780003346.html

Looks like good 20.8/34 tires on the
rear, that's 2,000.00 right there. If
they are 18.4s it's a grand.

I was wondering if we were talking about the same tractor, we are. Its not tight, its seized! I made a good offer on it this morning. He moved a little, but not much! You can minus the front weights from the picture, they're happily on my 930.

Looks like a 1966, or 67, with that type of motor issue, the MOST I would offer him is 1000.00. If they don't take it, run.

yeah. good chance it could be leaking sleeves. but cracked heads aren't out of the picture of course. I had an 800 engine with both issues (parted out)
