Case 1175

I just picked up a Case 1175 and am changing all of the fluids before I start working it. I am doing this all at my friends shop and he told me to just use his "Supreme Torque Universal Hydraulic & Transmission Fluid made by Steward Enterprise INC" for in the transmission, but I am wondering if this is the wrong stuff for the 1175. He uses this oil on all of his red tractors, but I wondering if down the road I will regret having put that oil in because it is not CIH Brand Hytran. Will it hurt to put this in? Thank you.

The 1175 has a straight 8 speed gear drive transmission. No clutch packs to worry about....probably can use the universal oil but the consensus on this forum is for a few bucks more use the hy-tran.

the dry clutch 1175 , will not send you to the woodshed because it dont have the case hy -tran in it ,, perhaps your friend has a miracle oil , i have not heard of Steward Enterprise supreme torque ??...

The final drives need 90W or 85w-140 gear oil.

For my 1170, I use the hy-tran oil that Sam's Club sells. I think any hy-tran that is labeled heavy duty will work fine.

To keep the oil clean, change the tranny filter and always wipe the dirt off of the male hyd quick disconnects and keep the female couplers covered. Make sure the hyd cylinders have effective wipers on their rods. You probable already know all this. Enjoy the 1175.

On our straight gear tranny tractors, such as the 1175, where that thin panther-pisss is required because the hydraulic system & tranny all share the common sump, I add 85W140 to that thin oil. Where a tractor will only be used in warm weather, and especially if you live in a warm climate, you could add 1 gallon of 85W140 to 5 gallons of the thin oil and the hydraulics will work fine.
