Case 1200 cooling system

So I was running my old case 1200 the other day and noticed it was blowing all of the coolant out of the radiator overflow. How can you tell if you have a thermostat issue or a water pump problem?

Thanks for any insight....

You should also be conserned about a bad head gasket, cracked sleeve or cracked head.Start the tractor with the radiator filled, and the cap off. watch in the neck of the radiator and see if there are air bubbles emerging from the neck of the radiator. If so you have compression leaking into the cooling system. If not, make sure the radiator is clean on the outside, Watch in the neck again after the tractor has gotten up to temp. and see if there is flow in the radiator, if not thermostat is not opening, and you should also notice a difference in temp. in the bottom of the radiator, compaired to the top.
A pluged radiator core will also cause this temp. variance. Also check the fan belts. I have also seen the impeller on a waterpump come lose from the shaft. This is a real tough one to diagnose without tear down.Check the simple things first using process of elimination.
