can you change the pto on a case 1270 / 1370 from 1000 rpm to

If it is like my 1175 Case (and it probably is), there is a snap ring that must be removed so the PTO shaft can be pulled out.
Just turn the PTO shaft "end for end" and stick it back in along with the snap ring.

CAUTION: Don't hit the PTO shaft with a hammer as damage to the unit can result.

mine is a little bit different of a problem ... on a (I believe a '76-78') 1270 Case Agri King tractor ... in that the pto lever (inside the cab) doesn't move forward or otherwise to engage the pto ... is there a safety lever/switch that controls that ,,, the tractor hasn't been used in a while ... it has a snow on it ... and last year in MN was very mild ... it was run only once it later February 2024 ... the pto lever and such obviously worked at that point?

Does anyone have an idea of what the issue may be?

Welcome to the Forums. Sorry I don't have an answer for you, however I expect rust from inactivity has taken hold of the linkage.

The two fellows in this thread were last seen back in 2011.

While there is nothing wrong with tagging onto an existing thread, in general, you are best served to start a new thread of your own. Include the details of what your tractor is and your question/issue. Pictures can help many times. What happens when you tag onto another thread is replies can get mixed between your needs and those of the person that started the thread and can cause confusion. In this case, some may just pass on by if the notice the old date (2011) it was started.

There is no safety switch involved. Something is stuck/rusted. If you can wiggle the lever a little it may be the cable or valve. If the lever is tight with zero movement it is probably stuck to the shaft. Make sure the pivot in the lever where the cable connects to it is loose or you might break the cable. It hurts when you break a brand new cable because that pivot is stuck.

I think the 12/1370's were 100rpm only.
