If you get a good one, they can be a tough tractor. I have seen more poor ones than good ones in the shop. Oil leaks, slow hydralics, PTO controls that are hard to understand, expensive parts, dealers that have no clue what your talking about when it comes to parts and service. Look for a case ih Doncaster series tractor, 785, 895,4230, or C-80

They are the last incarnation of the David brown 990/995 series.

Most parts are readily available and cheap(but you have to do your own leg work to find them, and sometimes from overseas)thanks to the internet.

They have really good cabs.

Very nimble

Very easy on fuel.

The DB 990 series is one of the highest production tractors of all time.

Downsides: The Lucas electricals. 35 years since the last one was built gives lots of time for abuse and questionable repairs. They do tend to leak, British built equipment leaking is a reality, not a joke.

We sold a lot of 990 and 1210 tractors, great tractor, simple durable and they worked. When the 90 and 94 series came along they were not as
simple and dependable, a lot harder to work on, more problems with all the stuff that was added to a simple tractor, I would take one only if
its real cheap and sell it again as soon as I could.
