Case 1490 - Pros & Cons

I'd like to hear about the 'good and the bad' regarding this model as I have seen one for sale with supposedly 3500 hrs on it. One question I have is about the 219 cu. in. engine which seems kind of small for an 85 HP tractor? I suppose it should be easy on fuel for light work but what about endurance, longevity or even cooling if it is working hard? Is the transmission good or prone to acting out? Thanks for input from those of you in the know!!

I bought one new in I think about 1980.Was a cab tractor. Worst piece of equipment I ever owned. Spent more time at the dealer than at my place. At 200 hours, I had enough of the troubles and breakdowns. Traded for an AC 6080 which I still have and has turned out to be one of best tractors I have ever owned. Others may have a different experience, but I say, proceed with caution!

(quoted from post at 10:42:42 11/01/21) I don't know where you got the 85 number. They are 70 or so PTO. the 1494 was 75 PTO.
It is listed as 85 HP on Tractor Data, I assume on the flywheel, it says 70 HP on the PTO. The person advertising it had 85 in the ad, by judging other details he probably got his info from TD as well.
