I have a 1840 which just up and died while using it, .the engine switch dose nothing so here is what i have did- new battery- both line fuses - new key switch when we lower the instrment panel found a mouse had chewed some coating off of some wires so repaired all that had been chewed, each wire that even looked i separated to fix. have electric back to starter switch ,if i turn switch to assory (spelling) i have lights but if i try switch to start i blows the main fuse. could the starter b stuck? any ideas will b a big help THANK YOU TP

Im betting its the solenoid for the starter. Had same issue on uni chopper. Take starter off and put jumper cables from battery directly on starter motor(not solenoid). See if starter spins if it does then solenoid for sure.

To find out if you still have a wire issue or solenoid issue.Un hook the wire going to start on the solenoid.Hook a test light onto that wire and have someone turn the key to start position,If it does not pop the fuse then you know you have a solenoid or starter issue.
