Case 2290 8 speed

I bought a case 2290 8 speed gear shift. There is extra play in the shifting levers. At times the shifting levers get caught in between the shifting quadrant. Is there any way to take the play out? Also can the shifting cables be lubed? THANKS
 
Their is an adjustment under the console cover that will tighten up the quadrants a bit, but won't totally solve your problem. I repaired the problem of the lever slipping between the quadrants by shaping a piece of flat steel to match the lever and welding it to the side of the shift lever to make it thicker.
