Case 281 Hay Rake?

I guess I have a couple questions. My case hay rake windrows hay out to the right if I'm in the driver seat. Is this considered a right hand hay rake? My next question: My Case 281 Manuel shows hay windrowed to the left. Do I have a different model or are case 281's both left and right rakes.

Standard side delivery rake delivers to the left. What you have is part of a v-rake setup using two side delivery rakes, one left, one right.

It will work fine by itself, but you should rake the direction you mow, and bale the direction you rake. Except for the back swath, you usually mow clockwise so standing material is to your right, and raking clockwise moves hay away from the unraked hay. You want to rake all the hay, and not lay a windrow on unraked hay so the baler will pick it all up. Your rake will want to rake counterclockwise around the field and will not do as good a job raking in some materials, but I don't think you will notice. It would give me fits trying to keep it on the right path.

If the hay is all raked to the right, will it feed into the baler or will you have to bale from the opposite end of the windrow? Just asking.

Every 281 I have seen and the one I have rakes from the right to the left when facing direction of travel,,, I will do some checking ,, it does seem like they made a 280 as well,, this may have been LH will do some digging

Never paid any attention to baling in direction of raking, not an isue. also for raking not an isue.

I really haven't been farming all in the same direction either. It's probably a lot easier on older machinery. Now thinking about it. I'm gonna give it a try next season. If I can remember in all my different fields.

I haven't had any luck finding a 280 or 282 case rake. The 281 components are all the same as mine. Except mines a right hand instead of the left. Confused on the model :?:
