Case 300 distributor

I am trying to figure out what brand of distributor I have on my 300 round nose 12v. AI (Artificial ignorance) says you can tell by using a magnet. The base of an autolite is aluminum Delco, iron. A magnet sticks to mine. What it also says but gets wrong is that both have a rectangular I D tag. My tag, which is not legible is a long oval. Definitly not rectangle. So AI says Delco. What say you?

What does the tag say on it?

Pictures of the distributor inside and out. Seeing the arrangement of the points and condenser can sometimes help. Do you know the brand and part number of the points you use?

should be a Auto Lite yet at that time from the factory, if it was replaced,, Wico was sold on Case in the 60's for a time,, as well as Delco sorry no help just thinking out loud

I will get pictures. All I know for sure is I think I used an autolite rotor and it started running crappy yesterday and when I looked at the cap the rotor had dug into cap leads. THat could be bad bushings but I think I first need to make sure I have that stuff right.

300 factory Delco-Remy dist was 1111909.

300 factory Auto-Lite dist was IAD6003-2J. These pics are all Auto-lite IAD6003-2J on a 300.

I can actually read some numbers on the side of my distributor when I enlarge the picture. Most of the numbers are the same. My oiler is different. I guess it is autolite despite what AI says about the body being aluminum.

You have an Auto-Lite dist was IAD6003-2F as opposed to IAD6003-2J. The 2F was used on VA series 124 cid and 400B 148 cid and a few other tractors during this era. The difference between 2F and 2J is the gov springs tension which will in some way effect the advance curve. All other parts of the 2F and 2J are identical as well as the same Auto-Lite part nr.

I have used the 2F on 310 148 cid and the 311B 148 cid, I don't see any difference in performance. The oiler on your dist is the same as in my pic, pull the cover sleeve straight out and there is a hole for the oil.

I'm thinking the Auto-Lite and Delco rotors look different, am I wrong?

I think the rotors are different but mine is consistant with the autolite style
