Case 310 engine swap?what to do?

I have an old case 310A 1959 for what I was able to find. At some point in its life it had an engine and transmission swap and it has a studebaker flathead 6 with a t86e transmission. Well the engine has took a dump and not worth the $ for a rebuild( cinder pressure is between 90 to 65 dependent on the cylinder). Has anyone heard or done a swap like this ? If I decided to do an engine swap has anyone have information what to do or recommendations what engine transmission combinations would work? I’ve read that Studebaker, jeep and ford Used the t86e transmission and was thinking of putting a ford 223 in line 6 or something of the equivalent that would bolt right into the transmission? Or just part the case out.

If the back end of the transmission goes to a drive shaft you will have several options without perhaps too much modification to go with a swap. If the rest of the machine works well, like steering and brakes etc including OK undercarriage for the work you do, it's probably a fun and worthwhile adventure to do. If you know that a Ford 223 bolts up that may be a good option as they were dependable engines. If modifications are not hard I would look for Chevy running gear if it was for myself.

I’m not sure if the ford is a direct bolt in to the Studebaker bell housing I just read ford user the t86e transmission and I’m guessing that and I’ve not ran any numbers yet to verify this. This thing‘s been Frankenstein And with how many different manufacturers parts I’ve seen on the vehicle( ford, Chevy, Chrysler) I’m not sure. I don’t have a driveshaft and I have a u-joint connecting the transmission to the drivetrain.

I would like to go with a Chevy inline 6 but not sure what transmission I could use because space is and issue and the t86e transmission is short and fits in.

I was just reading this thread about the t86e trans. in relation to Ford. You can take a look to see if there is any wisdom you can make use of. Maybe a small block 289 would work, and cut down a bit on the length as well.
