Case 310 Roundnose Wheels

My 56 310 Roundnose needs rear wheels. It has the original wheel centers that the rim bolts up to. (not one piece wheels) Are new wheels available to bolt on the original wheel centers or do I have to use one piece wheels now?

Good afternoon, I had issues myself trying to find a rim that does fit. The biggest propblem were the holes on the different rims. On a case the hole pattern on the interior hub have been moved in about a 1/2 centers from the edge of the hub. On the other wheels the bolts holes didn't line up. The diameter of the hole spacing was different. And the square lug holes on the rim were to close to the rim to allow for the 1/2" inset on the interior hub. The square lug holes needed to be moved out approx 1/2" off the rims so they would line up. So what I did was find a set of Ford hubs and rims and checked the hole pattern which I think was 9 lug hole. It was easier to find those than rims that fit the case hub. Painted the hub orange and the rim silver and know body ever knew they fit on a ford.

Uggie,
Did you use a one piece rim for a Ford or did you use two piece wheel center and rim? My wheel centers are still very nice and painted up nice. Probably means I won't get to use them unless I find new rims that will bolt up to them.

Thanks Joe. I do need rims for the centers I have. They painted up nice. What is the purpose of the u shaped shims that were on the old ones?

The rear tread width is adjustable. The shims have to do with dish to rim loop clearance in some positions of tread width adjustment.

The wheel "dish" that bolts to axle hub can be mounted dish-out to get a 48" or 52" tire tread spacing depending on which side of the loop the rim is bolted.

Mounting dish-in on the axle hub the tread spacing can be 56" or 60" or 64" or 68" depending on which side of the loop the rim is bolted or a combination of inside & outside rim to loop bolting on one or both wheels. If you do the combination bolting you need the shims to make up for different spacing between the dish and individual loops.

Clear as mud?

Thanks Joe. I learn something here all the time. I ordered new rims and tires yesterday from Miller. Good people to deal with on the phone.

Yes, they are good to deal with. I've bought several tires & rims from them over the years. Ed is just top-notch.
