My serial number tag as disappeared. My problem is the front end and parts manual is serial number specific. Some research i have done tells me the tractor is around 826000 to 829000 or there of. Some other research tells me it is 829001+, do to the fact that it is a draft-o-matic. They claim the front end has what is called a "Ross Hydrostatic Steering" system can anybody help I am getting desperate THANK-YOU

It is my understanding that the last Eagle Hitch was produced on 2/22/1963 with serial number 8214360. Thereafter all 430-530 series tractors were equipped with Draft-O-Matic 3-Point Hitches. There were some DOM tractors built in 1962, and non-DOM swinging 3-point arms were available as an option as early as the 300 series tractors in the mid-1950s.

The hydrostatic power steering systems were implemented beginning with serial number 8262800 (mid-year 1965).

What specifically is driving your need to know the the serial number range for your tractor? We may be able to narrow it down further with more information.... - Joe

Trying to get parts, a parts manual and a service manual that shows the parts and how to remove those items and the manuals that i have, do not show the correct front end and i do not have a parts break down for the front end. I am trying to rebuild the front end bushings pins and the pistons proving to be quite challenging.

Hey Chris

If you have the hydrostatic steering front-end (twin hydraulic cylinders under the oil pan) your serial number would be after 8262800 which means you need Parts Catalog 944 or 979. 944 is for the middle serial numbers 8262800 to 8297800 (mid-1965 to mid-1966). 979 is for 8297801 and after (mid-1966 trough 1969).

Does your 430 have a triple range transmission or a dual range. The 430s changed very little after 1966 except that the triple range was not offered after that last serial number break (>= 8297801)

There are many sources for the parts and service manuals including eBay and CaseIH. The parts manuals are also available online at the <A HREF=" http://www.caseih.com/northamerica/PartsService/Pages/search.aspx">CASEIH Website</A>. Once at the website click on "Begin your search for the parts you need right here", and then enter "430 Case" "Model:" window. Select the second or third manual.

Factory Service Manuals are hard to find privately and are expensive if you do. You can also get them new from Case. Either way be prepared to spend $100+ for a factory Service Manual. That's certainly expensive but they are much better and more comprehensive the IT service manuals that can be had on ebay for ~$20. - Joe

Thank you Joe for the information. My tractor has a triple range so it makes it mid 65-66. This will help tremendously Chris

The later tractors 430/530s (8297801 AND AFTER) and the 470/570s had a transmission serial number plates in one of two places. The first possibility was under the seat, just aft of the main shifter cover. The second place was affixed to the right side of the transmission case just above the brake housing. Rich at Case may be able to tell the age with those serial numbers based on the records he has access to within CNH.

I don't think any of the earlier tractors could be dated base on the rear-ends... Except of course the rockshaft assembly was different for the eagle hitch and draft-o-matic tractors. That would give some general guidance for manufacturing dates before and after February 1963.
