Case 445 with dual rear wheels

I bought a Case 430 LCK (445) with dual rear wheels and love the unusual set up for the novelty of it but when it comes to work I need a set of rear wheels with bar lug tires. Just wondering what some of you ol tractor guys would suggest as far as size of tire and width ect for general tractor work. I had a Case 430 that I think had 28 14.9 and they worked pretty well. Put an ad for some Case 430 rear wheels on the wanted section but haven"t found anything yet. Don"t think I need power adjust but a one piece wheel would be my preference.

Why not mount 11.2x24 R1 tires on your existing rims? When you need/want only singles you can remove the duals and run singles only. That strategy would keep a very unique aspect of your 445 intact.

28" tires are going to make your 445 run "downhill". They will be too tall for the low profile front axle. If you choose to mount singles, a better option would be 12.4x24 or 13.6x24 or 14.9x24. You can match the correct tire up to whatever rim size you use. 11", 12" and 13" six loop rims are available for about $150 each, and would be correct for the the respective tire sizes listed above. That route would allow you to use a set of your current wheel centers.

Case did not offer one-piece, pressed steel 24" or 28" rims for these tractors. You may be able to find a set of 26" rims off of a combine. - Joe

I agree with Joe on the 11.2x24s If you feel you need larger tires take his advise. My LCG has 14.9x24 rears and 7.50x16 fronts, and it sets nice and level and has good underneith clearance for getting through deep snow in the winter when I head to the woods.

Thanks for the info, the goodyear tires on the tractor now are 8.3 X 24. Does the 8.3 reference how tall the tire is off the rim? I'll have to change up the studs and lug nuts because I can't tighten them up all the way with only one set of wheels on the back but that shouldn't be too big of a problem. Should have some photos soon, the tractor is back together but would like to get the new tires on before the first photo shoot.

The tires that are on the tractor now were filled with some kind of expandable foam and someone attempted to remove the tires and then gave up after messing up two of the rims (shame). I may have to use a chain saw to get the things off. LOL. Saw a couple of rims that appear to be the same on ebay 7X24 with the six loop but wasn't sure if they were worth buying or not. The Case parts book doesn't show 7" rims as an option but I think thats what on mine. Any way thats why I was considering new wheels but like the idea of using what I have.

I should have known better than to make an absolute statement regarding something that Case did... They did indeed offer a pressed steel 24 x 13" rear rim that was used for some 14.9 x 24 tires. Since they had no adjustment, my guess is they were used with wide turf tires.

Be careful sourcing 24 x 7 rims. Many of those were used on Farmall Cubs, which were 4-loop rims. I think yours are 6-loop??? Several sources offer 24 x 8, 6-loop rims that could be an alternative for your application.

I didn't realize your rims were that narrow. It might be a challenge to get an 11.2x24 on that small of a rim. You may need to use 9.5 x 24 R1 tires...
