we recently aquired a 450 crawler the transmission shows low what kind of fluid do we put in it? do we use hydraulic/trans fluid like a tractor?

Book says use Case TCH but the alternative oil listed by Case says use automatic trans fluid type "A" and if you want to, you can use any hyd oil except GL5, I use type 303 which meets all case spec"s. If you drain the system it holds 32 quarts.
I have all the books so if you need any help let me know. I also have a Case 450 loader and it"s a super machine for just about anything.

I forgot.....You said it won't move!! Mine did the same thing. You need to drain the existing fluid and CHANGE the main filter in the side panel and then remove the suction filter in the engine compartment on the right side as you are in the seat. Remove the 4 bolts that hold the suction line and hose going to the pump. This is a wire mess screen and just clean it out with diesel or what ever you want. The hard part for me was to get the pump to prime again, I used Lucas to fill the line going to the pump and put the hose back on (you have to be quick. Watch your converter pressure gauge when you start it and I bet you now have pressure and machine will move. Also be sure to have the "hi/low" lever (the one by your left foot)all the way in the forward position, that is low range and it needs to stay there.

Check the fluid level on the dipstick under the seat. Make sure it"s not milky. If it is change it out. You fill it through the dipstick tube.
Heavy hydraulic oil will be fine.
