Case 500, 900 or 930

Im considering buying a big old Case either 500, 900 or 930 diesel weatland. Apart the colour and the differences in tinwork is there much to choose between them? Ive heard the fuel injection pumps can be a problem as well as cracks in the block from frost or towing. Any thoughts on these or ideas on what I might have to pay for a working machine that starts and runs and half decent tyres.
Any advice welcome.

Most of the 500's will have a rotary pump, the 900/930 will be Inline. The 900/930 will have a 6 speed transmission vs the 4 speed 500, so it is faster when moving from place to place. The seat on the 900/930 is also more comfortable and has a back to it.

I don't know about cracking blocks, but be careful in hauling and booming down to the drawbar, apparently you can indeed break them on a good bump that way.

Hi Bill, This is a picture of my 930 Comfort King. If I was looking for a Case to redue ,this would be high on my list. 8 speed tranny,12 gal. pump , Three point hitch, as well as remote hydraulics, make this a very versatile tractor. And the ride on the Comfort King is far better than the earlier models, and has great visabilty.

if your going to work it go with 30 series row crop not a
wheatland , the wheatland has no 3 point and hyd pump could
be an issue , i love my wheatland ,but my row crops are much
more usefull, for show wheatlland look good and cheaper tom

I have 2 930 CK and dont know what I would do if something happened to one of them.

I'd split the difference and get a 600. Two-tone paint is pretty. The star burst eagle medallion is a work of art. The motors are interesting to look at with all the fuel filters and plumbing. 6 speed tranny vs. 4 speed on the 500. A lot less tin work to restore vs. the 900/930 and is just a handsome machine all around. Maybe not nearly as heavy to haul as those early long frame 900/930s but I'd have to look at the specs to be sure.

The 600 will be heaver on the front end with out weight and is a six speed. Bruce
