Case 500 plow

Went to look at a 4 bottom model 500 plow. The 500 came either with 18 or 20 inch bottoms. This particular plow measures 16 inch. I know its not the lighter built 308, and the 400 was 5 bottoms or more. I think i remember someone saying there's a way of adjusting their width?

The mounting plates and reset brackets have slotted and dual holes in the front of
them where they bolt to the main backbone. Also the spacer with the qudangled plate
welded to it at rear and is turned to fit tight against the side of the backbone for
different widths. I question your 16" measurement, if it is indeed a 500 series plow.
Both the 400 and 500 share the same sized backbone, just drilled different------Loren

As per your advertisement, 4 bottoms were model 500. I called the owner to check measurement also. 16"

Was the width measured from center of beam to center of next, or inside to inside of adjacent beams. Is there any sign of the backbone being cut off shorter.------------Loren

I measured ctc and landslide to landslide. I don't know how he measured, but they have been selling equipment for years. The plow is in another state so I'm not close by to check it out again.

There was a 4 bottom 500 hooked to a 970 at Rollag. Very nice adjustable width plow. I did not measure it.

If the plow has seen a lot of acres of use, The shanks could have enough sloop to measure off that much at the landsides. Measure across the beams up by backbone.----------Loren
