Case 500 power cells

I'm looking to make a puller for the power cells on my 500. Years ago George MD posted a picture of a puller he made and stated thread
diameter 15/16 or 7/8 depending on early or late Case diesel. My question, what is the thread pitch?

Larry,

I made two of them, one is 1" 20 thrd the other is

15/16 X 20 thrd . Made these for 382 and 277 continental

engines . I think one will fit case but can't remember

which one . Make yours out of something hard and tough.

I used a broken socket for one and a really good grade 8

bolt for the other. I cut the threads on the lathe .

Power cells ?????

Many of your older diesel engines are indirect injection using the Lanova style pre-combustion chambers. Energy cell or Power-Cell is just a branding thing for those precombustion chambers. Your Case diesel engines from the 500's 377cid up until about the 70 series tractors all used this system before going to a cross flow head and direct injection.

These are an example of the precombustion chambers pressed into the head casting that the original poster is attempting to remove.

Thanks for the reply dkeav. I'm thinking that's what I replace on mt 560 IH. I had lost one (long story) and there was only one available. Paid over $400. Canadian to get it out of US.

Lesson learned !!
