I have a 504 out of a 2670 and I'm looking for some more power. What's possible out of stock parts? what about some mild modifications and what are they?
Thanks for any help

There are a lot of directions you can go with that 504 a 2670 is the large journal crankshaft. Should also be a 10mm pump. The first thing is to remove the rack cap from the pump and take the limiting screw and shims out of the front of the rack. The next problem will be the turbo, 3lm466 is a good match to the turned up stock pump. Then there is Injectors and I could go on and on. By the way wat are you putting this in?

I have a large journal 504 in my 1175 farm stock puller. It has a Crane 3000 rpm cam, heads are cleaned up, 4 x .020 injectors, St. Josephs pump, 3LM466 turbo, and fire ringed sleeves. Pump is set at 400cc, and it makes about 400 hp. This year I will have a bit more turbo, and the pump at 425 cc, should be at about 475 hp when done. It has been completely reliable so far. I had to advance the pump timing quite a bit to keep the EGT reasonable, but it seems happy now. Pistons are stock, and cut for valve clearance. The 504 is a tough motor, and will make power pretty easy. Fire rings are needed if you don't like changing head gaskets. I've got more learning to do, but it's coming along. Good luck--

I'm planning to put this in a 1175 and pulling in the 12500 and 14000 farm stock blower class. There is a under 8mph and also a over 8mph around here. I believe I'll plan on the under 8mph for now. This is a stock rpm class so the crane cam set for 3000 won't help me. What injectors are the best for stock pump?
thanks againa

I think you can do fine in under 8mph by just turning up the pump, and using a 3LM466 turbo. For injectors, 4x.020 should work good, but I'm no expert on that (or much else). I've done some 12mph and some open. On a sticky track, I don't have quite enough for 6th gear, hence the switch to a bigger turbo and more fuel.

If you plan on pulling under 8 mph you wont need to spend any money on injectors or turbo. They will run over 300hp with stock injectors and turbo with a few things done to the pump. Take out the rack screw and shims. Then turn the fuel screw in untill it will no longer idel then back it out 1/2 a turn. If you plan on running over 8mph what you need to do will depend on what your competition is. You will be able to run 6th gear easy with stock parts. Thad

6th gear in my 1175 is right at 12mph with 20.8-38's. If you're running radials on a good track, you ain't gonna pull 6th gear with stock parts.

We have pulled 6th gear for years in a 970 at 10000 lbs. They are faster than the 1175s 6th we have NEVER ran out of power with 18 4 38s if its running right. You can get one to run that easily in my area with stock parts. We had a 1175 we pulled a couple years at 10000 lbs and we ran 7th gear with 18 4 38s. Naturally it wasnt stock. If its running up to its potential it should be easily over 300hp. I understand every track is diffrent larger tires and weight make a diffrence. Just my 2 cents Thad

Thanks for the all the help. Now on to my next question. What do I need to run for a clutch and pressure plate? I assume that the stock one will not hold that much power. Thanks again

Can't help you much with the clutch- mine has a 2 disk, but was there when I bought the tractor. It works real good, but is hard on the left leg.
