Case 530 Coil Resistance

If you are choosing a new coil, it depends if the system was messed with, if in stock configuration, there is a resistor mounted up on the coil bracket, if so a coil with a primary reading in the two threaded terminals 1.5 Ohms or close to that is ok. If someone in the past has changed it to a true 12 V system setup the primary should be 3.5--4 ohms or in that vicinity. Offhand I do not know the secondary ohmage of the windings, but it will be thousands of ohms. the 530 series had a wire from the starter solenoid that bypassed the resistor to supply 12V for startup, then switched out once the solenoid deenergizes
