Picked up a Case 530 gas a few weeks ago. It has triple range, hand clutch and eagle hitch.
1st problem was pto shaft was loose and leaking oil out of the seal. I tore it apart and treads were stripped so I couldn't tighten it anymore. Installed new pto shaft and seal....That's fixed
2nd problem started when I drained the oil out of the rear end, I got about 12 gallons or so. I read a few posts that stated it was probably the rockshaft seals for the 3pt. So I wasted no time tearing that apart and ordered some parts. The piston has 2 steel rings and what appeared to be a hard rubber one. O-ring came in and without knowing what I'm doing I cut the piece off the piston and discover O-ring is under it. Did some investigating and found out I also need a seal, part# G46899 which I find out from the dealer its discontinued.
3rd problem started when I decided to tinker with the hand clutch. None of the clutches slipped before but the handle felt loose and would sometimes disengage partially by itself. Previously when I drained the transmission, about 2 gallons came out. I tightened it a bit but handle still seemed loose and wouldn't stay locked over center. So I picked up some universal trans/hydraulic fluid from Fleet Farm and poured about just about 4 gallons in. I left piston out of rockshaft, left line disconnected and put everything back together. Took it for a quick test drive and now the clutch slips pretty bad. I took it apart right after the test and oil was pretty foamy in trans.
Any idea's or suggestions would be appreciated!
