Case 531 3 point leak

My 3 point stopped working on my tractor and it seems that the hydraulic oil is leaking into the gear housing. Does that mean I have to split the tractor to fix a leaky seal?

Few different reasons, not a pro by any means but I believe the common problem is rockshaft cylinder needs service. You can pull open access by pulling off the plate under the seat to expose the rockshaft cylinder. I used a cherry picker as the plate is heavy.

If you raise the 3pt, shut the engine off and the 3pt settles, then the rockshaft needs attention. The 2nd most common source of leakage is the PTO shaft seal in the differential housing as outlined by clicking on the link provided. Very rarely is the problem the input shaft seals which requires a split.
