Case 570 tractor questions

Case 570 coming up on auction. Don't know much about them but it looks straight with good tires, 3 point and wide front, gas engine. My questions are, how do I tell what transmission it has? Tractordata lists 3 different options for the 570, 4 speed, 8 speed, and 8 speed with shuttle. It only has 1 set of remotes on back, is it hard to/ possible to add another set of hydrolics? Were these tractors 12 volt from the factory? Is the pto live? For baling hay can u push the clutch in to stop forward movement of tractor but keep baler going to get through thick spots? Hydrolics live? Anything to look out for? I can't find much info on them on google. Thanks for any input! :)

The 570 series is nearly identical to the earlier 530 (1960-1969). The std. transmission is the 4 speed, the 8 speed is the same with a dual range added, and the shuttle is the 8 speed with shuttle added. The shuttle transmission is super handy with loaders, but probably not such a benefit for general farm use. One set of hydraulic couples is standard, I don't know how easy it is to add another. Yes, it is a 12 volt system, it has live PTO and hydraulics, and yes to your baling question. I can't think of any particular areas to look for as problems, just check the general overall condition. If the tractor is in good condition, a 570 would be an excellent machine and easily up to running a small square baler.

to add to the below comments, tractor data is seldom correct,, again it has given you some info but not all, 570 did have the choice of 4 speed, dual range drive 8 speed,, and of course by far the BEST option was 8 speed shuttle, until you have used one you have no clue how much better they are, most will have the dual range 8 speed, I myself do not care at all for the 4 speed only option,, gear selection is very limited, there was also the dual range with Case-O-Matic drive this adds in torque convertor,, most 570's will have been ordered with Independent pto, But it could have the std pto which is not a live pto as it stops when you step on the clutch, you will see this in a 4 speed equipped tractor often,, some folks in the day would not spend the extra money for the "Goodies" yes two remotes can be had, you have to find a parts units/salvage yard who will have the needed parts though to add a s second one. I will add comments to the pics below

item 6 is the 4 speed shifter knob
item 8 is the dual range shifter if equipped
item 7 is the fwd/rev shuttle lever if equipped

this image shows the direct drive lever in a ghost image if the tractor has Case-O-Matic

this shows what the two pto types look like hope this helps

Thank you so much that's exactly what I needed some pictures! The tractor at auction is an 8 speed, no shuttle though. It also does have the larger live pto lever. Going to look at it in person this weekend, auction is monday.

Thanks for filling in the details I forgot, cnt. It was late when I wrote my first reply. I hadn't even considered that the std. PTO could be had on some 570's, which as you mention probably would be only 4 speed models. I suppose there are a few with no PTO, like is common on many Construction King tractors. I'm pretty sure its on this site where I saw someone post about adding a second pair of remotes with salvage yard pieces, as you describe.
