I seem to have a new development..... when the the shuttle lever is in the locked neutral position the hoe wants to move forward and when put into reverse, it seems to have the brake on which it is not. I will check linkage later today but I would appreciate any comments please.

Common fault of the Borg Warner shuttle is when a disc breaks up in the forward clutch pack it gets sandwiched between the other discs and keeps the clutch permanently engaged, when you select reverse the stalling effect is because it is in two gears at once,do not use reverse again till you repair the shuttle.

thanks for the comments! got the old girl scheduled in at the dealer for a new shuttle trans and torque converter.. gonna be pricey

That a lot of money for that age machine,if your power train was ok before this problem the usual thing done is to remove the shuttle only and fit a rebuild kit to it,don't you have a independent heavy mechanic that could do the job for you, even if you were to get an exchange shuttle and have a mechanic fit it for you,it can be changed in a day,but it is your call.
