What would a value range be for a mid
70's early 80's Case 580B be. It was
parked in a field about 8 years ago
everything is there including backhoe w/
bucket and front loader. The bad seat is
shot, I'd assume all lines need
replacing and does NOT run, guessing
seized engine.

You need a machine man's eye to look it over, eight years standing out in the weather is plenty time for the cylinder rods to rust, the valves to freeze up and the engine to ingest water, scrap value would be the best way to gauge it,why was it parked, those machines were known to strip the teeth from the diff ring gear, post some pictures.

Gas or diesel? Diesel should fire up with fuel and a hot battery. I have bought a few crawlers and backhoes that have set years and fired up with little effort. The hydraulic hoses get expensive fast and back tires. If tires are decent and engine will turn over, its worth $1000 to $1500 max, a seat is 70 at most farm stores. If you can haul it yourself thats a big help on the investment too! If its a gas tractor and was running well and operators as it should it would only be worth $2500 to $3000 at a farm consignment auction in the Spring.

I will add that if its an 80s model with a cab and diesel engine. More like $3500 to $4000 not running. But I would hook a hot battery up to it and make sure engine isnt locked up before paying that much money. Just an opinion!
