When changing head gaskets on the big 600, the manual says to permanently bolt everything on the heads and then torque them down using the special Case wrenches. Not having those wrenches, does anybody know where I could buy or borrow them? Or do I torque the heads first then bolt everything on or could some be made? Thanks in advance.

Had the heads off a 500 years ago, from memory,
the manifolds were supposed to fitted before tightening the heads, the special wrenchs were for retightening the head with the rocker gear in place.

I believe the special wrenches are for getting under the rocker arms. For putting the heads on it helps to mount the water and exhaust manifolds with the heads setting on the block. Then torque the bolts on the 800 I did it that way and put the rocker-arms on after the initial torque. The trick comes when you retorque after you've run the engine for a bit. Then you'll need the special wrench or take the rocker-arms back off.

I ran mine a couple hrs then took rockers off and retorqued, put rockers back on and reset valves.Normally bout a 4 beer job on a hot summers day. Hoss
