Case 660 combine engine

Question. Which motor was in the 660 combine? Was it the 188 or the 201? And what is the story on horizontal oil filter near the right front of the engine versus the vertical tipped out oil filter in the center on the right side?

Gas 660 combine mostly had 201's. Not sure about
diesels. I think the later ones had the vertical oil
filters because the blocks would allow for bolting
into tractors. If the oil filter is horizontal on the right
side, it is hard to retrofit the motor into say a 530 or
630 tractor

Got early 660s here with the 188 gas engine. Got a couple 600s with the 188 also. Have a later 660 with a 201.

Curious -- has anyone thrie to install the 188 in a Ferguson tractor -- TO 20?

You would be much better off purchasing a non-running Case tractor for $500 that used that engine. Do you have a lathe and are you good at measuring and transferring dimensions from one set up to another? If you don’t have a lathe you will probably easily end up with a $500 bill from a machine shop before this project is completed. Also adding, the front “bolster” of the tractor that supports the front axle must be adapted to the front of the Case motor.
