Case 800 Diesel

Hi All

I have an 800 Diesel with the American Bosch PSB rotary injection pump, is it possible to upgrade to the inline Bosch pump? Or is the accessory drive
case where the pump mounts different between the two?

It's done all the time. Just get the drive with the pump, ie, change both pump and drive.

'm pretty sue you want the injector lines also.

You need everything from the block back including the lines and throttle linkage. I would change the filters too, they all bolt on. You can get the filter base from a late 30 series or 70 series and go with spin on filters if you want.

I would recommend using the Bosch pump from a 830. Use all the linkage from an 830. The picture below shows how well it works on the 800. If your Case 800 is an 801B the conversion is very seamless.

Please Note: There are no mounting points on the early 1958 engine blocks for bolting an 830 two filter bracket onto. However, late 58 and early 59 800s have mounting points cast into the blocks, but you will need to drill and tap them to mount the bracket..

That looks great Jim, do you notice any change in performance with the 830 pump in the 800? Mine is running with the rotary pump, but they are prone to shaft failures if neglected from what Ive read.

You won't get much if any performance improvement, there just is not a lot of extra in those engines. Most of the conversions were because the rotary pump went bad and it was cheaper to convert than repair. That shaft that twists off is no longer available, making it more common for the swap to be done. Bit if your pump is working and you run the tractor regularly, there would be little advantage to a swap.
