Case 830 floor lever

Can someone explain to me what the lever on the floor of my 830 does? I believe it has to do with the three point but it really doesn't seem to do much other then make the three point go higher or lower depending whether you move It to the right or to the left. I believe it has six holes in the floor to move within. Thanks, Nick

That lever is the 3-point draft control. From light to heavy.

On each end of the 6 holes there should be a flat headed rivet with a P on one and a D on the other, P equals Position and D equals Draft, draft sensitivity is selected by choosing the hole that provides the best draft sensitivity for the particular implement and P locks the draft control so you have total control on the hand lever.

Excellent thanks for the tutorial Mel. Now I understand. So if
you were using a post hole digger or a snow blower you would
probably want total control of the implement as in P. I am
guessing a plow you would want draft, something that pulls hard?

Yes, you got it, it is an excellent draft control system, very reliable, the idea of draft control is to transfer weight off the front to the rear to enhance traction, Case's rule of thumb back in the day was to add 4 of the flat front weights per bottom plow +1. Tractor setup is all important for proper draft control operation. Obviously, if the front is not weighted it will lift instead of balancing weight against the plow draft.
