Case 8420 Baler

Looking for a source of the rubber fingers the gathering wheels on a Case 8420 round baler. Having trouble finding just the rubber part. There are 16 bolts holding each rubber fingers on the baler. Any help will be appreciated. Supposedly they are a 3 piece part for each wheel. Looking for replacement parts or what you did to replace with homemade or some other type. Thanks.

I made some out of the bottom of a plastic barrel, because I couldn't find any replacement either. Used a jig saw to cut the pattern

We used the sidewall of a bias ply 14 inch auto tire. Cut the tread off and then the bead. Cut in the sawtooth pattern. Used 1/4" bolts, nuts and fender washers in the holes where the original teeth were bonded to the wheel. Needs to be bias ply, a radial tire will not work.

Also, you can get the rubber wheel/teeth in a more modern pattern from AgBelt. They use six 1/2" bolts in a smaller circle. In the process of installing a set of these, we reduced the diameter of the old wheels by about 4-5" with a oxy/acetylene circle cutting rig, centered up the new rubber wheel on the cut down metal disk, marked and drilled the six holes.

The rubber wheels used to be about $80 each but are now $125, and are 24 inch diameter and 1 inch thick. They last real well, but so do the tire sidewalls, if you use the right tire.
