Case 8575 3x3 baler

Im looking at a Case 8575 baler. It has some issues the guy said it has to bale in manual and not automatic mode. Does this mean you have to manually engage the knotters? And is it usually a expensive fix? It also has 45000 bales on it. How many bales do you get out of these balers before you rebuild it?
Thanks

I'd wonder what miracle grease he's using if some of it hasn't been rebuilt by now? There is a possibility it has been well maintained I guess. You'll have to go over it pretty good &/or take someone who knows those balers with you, if possible, to look over it if you are not sure what to look for.

Should be a few people here that know those balers. If all else fails, Red Power Forum, Haytalk or Agtalk would be a couple other options for you to poke at.

Those balers have an automatic load density system that adjusts the pressure on the chamber cylinders to maintain a constant plunger load. There are load cells in the crank arms that measure the force on the bale at each stroke and this data is used by the computer to do the hydraulic adjustments. I'm guessing that the seller is indicating that something in the automatic load control system isn't working. Could be something as simple as a broken wire or something much more complicated and expensive to fix.

If you want to talk to a mechanic about it I would suggest going to an AGCO dealer that has big square balers in their area - they will likely be more knowledgeable on those machines than a CaseIH dealer. It has been 25 years since the CaseIH got their balers from the Hesston, KS plant so their mechanics are probably more familiar with the New Holland design. The CaseIH 8575 is exactly the same as a Hesston 4755 except for the paint and decals.

45,000 bales on a 3x3 wouldn't be considered a high number. In commercial hay operations that could be just a few seasons of use.
