Case 900B stuck engine.

I have a Case 900B diesel with a stuck engine. I tried taking the injectors out to to put ATF in but couldn't get them to pop out so I took the exhaust manifold off and did it that way. My problem is it has a pulley for a hand crank on it, I have no hand crank but I did make a tool for it that works ok. It has a loader on it so it's hard to get a pry bar in to use on the flywheel. I can't get it to budge.
Looking for any tips or suggestions.

you better get that pump off of that engine before even trying to get it loose. !! them injectors just pull right out. so they are stuck that pretty much tells the story on that engine. you got the engine cylinders lubed up with mystery oil or such thin oil ? hook a tractor on the front of it with it in gear and give it a nudge. then do the same from the back end. and make sure you have the front pully marked so u can tell if the crank did move any. if no luck after that just pull the heads off . and back to the pump them psb pumps parts are obsolete and guaranteed you will break the shaft inside. it will be stuck also.

Ok thank you! I will try that. The atf I put in has soaked down into the cylinders.

You might try jacking the rear end up to where the tires are off the ground, and working the wheels back and forth. Gives the ability to work the motor both ways.
Only one wheel should be off the ground to rock the engine through the transmission. Both rear wheels off the ground will just spin the other wheel through the differential, the path of least resistance.

Jacking one wheel off the ground is a good way to do it. Make sure the transmission is in high gear when you do it.

actually the best way is to remove the starter, you dont want to get too Rammy using the rear wheels. that will pull a piston apart. you can get a pry bar on the ring gear teeth and do it that way. or just use the battery and see if the front pulley moves a bit. with a mark on it. long as it moves 1/8 inch then you are winning you have to go back and forth each time.

do not try pulling it, good way to bust a chain or bend rods! if it is truly a 900B it will have an inline Bosch A-pump not the rotary PSB pump, those injectors get pretty stuck in there some times, use a couple rolling head pry bars and rock them out. ATF, MArvel, DOT 3, Lacquer thinner, and diesel fuel in equal portions works pretty well for me. You should be able to lock the clutch in with it in neutral and rotate it via the belt pulley.

I said to nudge it not actually pull it , all you’re doing is basically tightening the chain not yanking on it. And yes they have the PSB pump. I have mine sitting on the yard and my tractor was stuck also and so was the pump. I removed the starter to turn engine back after I broke the piston off using the rear tire method.

A 900B should have the A pump a 900 will have the PSB I suppose there could have been a few real early 900B's with the PSB, I have not seen one with a PSB that can be confirmed original, also they can be switched so there can be the odd balls out there, but that was the real major difference between the two models besides year of production, also the nose cone changed I believe from a short radiator with the door to the cap on top the hood, the 58 800's and 700's were the same way had the PSB pump and short radiator 59 had the A pump and tall radiator, if you wanna get real technical 57 8 and 7 hundreds even though they were 58 model year, also the clutch pedal on the 800's changed somewhere in 57-58, they had the cast one like a dry clutch at first then switched to the flat steel one, I cant tell you for sure exactly when but in there somewhere!

I get you point about the pulling it, just seen to many get messed up really bad by some rammer jammer trying to break them loose and giving a tug andx slamming the clutch in, bad things happen then

Do you mean leave in neutral and engage the hand clutch, pushed forward?

My 900B has the German inline pump

There are about 10,001 ways to go about freeing a stuck engine, none any better than any other. The key is FINESSE not brute force. It'll either come loose or it won't.

Curious, only 1 or 2 exhaust valves would be open at any given time... How'd you get the ATF into the cylinders?
