Case 930 12v conversion help

I have a 68 Case 930 thats been converted to 12v. My issue is I dont know if the previous owner hooked it up right, it seems to go steadily downhill after each start and after about 5 or 6 starts it needs the batteries charged. These batteries are now new and want to go over things to make sure its all hooked up right. The alternator does create a magnetic field as a wrench will stick to the case when its running( was told thats a way to see if its working). I have a photo of the current setup to help. Maybe looking for some sort of wiring diagram to trace everything.

Does the dash charge light turn on with the Ignition switch, if so the alternator should energize which you say you believe it is doing from the magnetism test? Where do the double blue wires go, they should go directly to the main hot big battery cable on the starter. The wiring on the alternator is correct except I do not know where the red wire goes, that wire is not needed unless there is some kind of digital tach hooked up, you could disconnect that wire as it has nothing to do with charging unless you can find something it works.

Do you have a Volt/ ohm meter? Running at a decent throttle setting the terminal with the double blues should show appx 14 V. Another test for the alternator is simply to see if it warms up after a period of time. it will get very hot if making current. If it gets hot or is magnetized and does not make the voltage rise to the 14 V range the alternator has internal problems such as burned out diodes. If you do not have a VOM, Harbour Freight has a very inexpensive one that is good enough for your purposes on this project.
