Case 930 CK engine upgrade

Any thoughts on why this 504 I got is pushing coolant out the overflow? I tested for combustion gasses in coolant and it passed but is definitely bubbling like crazy.

Lots of the 6spd 930s were sold with 6 bottom plows, or 4-16s with packer and drill in the Dakotas and parts west. Those that had both said the 930 6spd did as much or more than the 100hp 1030.
I have a six spd has hand clutch barn stored for last 12 years. pulled 5-16,s for16 years but a 6000ft we should have only pulled 4. Best use on our ranch was the 18 years I ran a 5 x 6 round baler for years. I have friend in Timber Lake,SD that had a 4 bottom Case plow with packer and drill.

Likely a head gasket, could be a cracked head or sleeve too, but those are more rare.

Your not crazy and its been done quite a bit. As long as you dont load it down and pull it hard it will be fine. It's not a hard job at all. The throttle and steering shaft hole are not hard at all. The water manifold won't line up right either and is a bit of a challenge. You need to grind out the front casting below the front pulley for room, also not a bad job. The flywheel gets a bit more dicey, the 930 had 2 different ones, one had 2 shoulder bolts so won't work on the 504 crank. If yours has 5 bolts all the same just swap it over and your clutch will work. You can also make the 504 flywheel work with some machining.

If you keep the turbo making the hood fit gets a bit tougher too. I've seen them cut out or modified to go over the turbo. You can also make an adaptor for the manifold to tilt the turbo to get it inside the hood.
Finally got around to pulling the 504. I was planning on using the 930 401 oil pan but realized that the oil pump is quite different on the 504. Would I be ok to use the pan and pickup tube off the 504 or do I need the stiffness of the big cast pan on the 401? If so is there a different oil pump I need to run?

I've never dealt with that, so not real sure. But with no side rails on the 930 I would want the cast pan if possible. Is it a different shape? There are no alternative oil pumps for the 504 that I'm aware of. I would see if the pickup tube will work with the 930 pan or if the tube can be modified to use it. I bored the 930 engine and converted it to the 504 so I didn't have that issue, I have never done a 504 swap. If you have Facebook look up the J. I. Case tractors and machinery page and ask there.

504 has a sump in the center and a bigger oil pump. I'm thinking the pump will hit the pan even if I change the pickup tube. I'll check out that group. Guess if it really came down to it i could fab up some side rails.
