Case 930 governor oil leaks

On my 930 fuel pump, oil is leaking from the governor control shaft - both sides. Can the rear governor cover be pulled off to repair shaftleaks with out any problems? I am an experienced diesel mechanic and have had experience on governors but not Bosh though (Cat mainly)

When mine did that I was told by the pump shop that the governor housing had to be replaced to fix the leak. They told me they would have to recalibrate the governor, and it would have to be on the pump machine to do it right. Cost me $200 25 years ago. Should I have trusted them?

I have the same leak on a Case 830 and 730. Dose anyone know a cure for this short of a expenseive pump rebuild?

I have repaired many of them, there are o rings in the insert that the shaft goes through and the inserts are held in place by large E rings inside the governor housing. After the screws are removed and the housing broken loose from its gasket the cover can be pulled back far enough to flip a lock up so a pin can be disengaged from the rack. also a spring must be disconnected then the cover is free. the spring has very little tension so can be removed easily, but it is hooked in a place just a little difficult, a pair of those medical long grippers makes it easier. calibration should not be a great matter of concern. I have used sealer sucessfully such as silicone but getting a gasket from a rebuilder should be done. Also get the correct o rings for the inserts and throttle as they are non standards on the throttle shaft, big and fat in proportion to their diameter. The inserts are most likely a little worked loose but new o nrings should buy you some time. In extreme cases for wear, I have cleaned, dried, and put on new orings and loctited the exterior of the inserts to tighten and seal them in the body. mEl
