Case 930 pto problem

I have a Case 930 (dsl, 8-speed case o matic, ck, foot clutch) and the pto doesn't work. The pto turns all the time the tractor is running, but when I hook it up to my batwing mower it stops turning. If I expect to be using this tractor for years to come, would it be best to adjust the clutch or just go ahead and replace it? If you recommend that I adjust it, what is the tool called that is used to pull the pin on the collar of the pto clutch?

Bob,
The tool doesn't have a name. A large flat screwdriver with a notch cut in the blade will work just fine to pull the pin. It sounds like your PTO brake also needs adjusting. Scroll down to the CASE DB forum and post again. The guys down there will be able to post parts breakdowns and details on adjusting the complete PTO assy.

Hey Loren, we finaly got our 1030 changed to 540. It is quite a job to get things right in that pto. The yoke you mention in this post was broken in are tractor and floating around in the bottom of the rear end. Felt lucky that a chunk didn't get jamed under a big planitary grear. Our old clutch pack was burned and plates warped as well the hublike unit the clutch pack goes into and acts ,if I am correct as the brake for the pto was chipped and wore bad. When we ordered the pto parts from a wrecker state side, thought that it was kinda spedy, but when it arived, what a suprise we got.they just took the whole pto assembly off the back of the doner tractor and shipped it all.probly weighted 200lb. But we ended up useing most of it. Our CaseIH parts man said that hub part alone is $800.00 My advice for doc bob is, get a book with pictures and explanation step by step. Bruce

Thanks Bruce. I was starting to feel like the blind leading the blind. I guess once I get a manual on the 930,look at the pto section, and take the pto plate off the tractor, I"ll start to feel a LITTLE less blind. Thanks for your advice.

Hey Adirondack Case Guy, thanks for your reply. Now I feel like an idiot asking the name of a tool when it doesn't have a name. A question I have is there's a Case DB? Where is it? Is it on this site? As you can see, I'm really new to this, but looks like since since I own a Case 210B, Case 430, Case 930, and a Case 1030, I'm going to be on here a lot. Thanks again.
