I am looking at a case 970 diesel. It is all original with a black nose cone, hood, and dash, with a gold stripe over the hood. It says "demonstrator" above the cab doors. My question is, how many of them were made, and does any one have any idea of the price range for them? It has 5200 hours. It needs a little tinkering, but runs good. thanks again.

Demonstrators were ordered by the Case dealerships. There should be a placard on the tractor depicting the dealership that it was shipped to from the factory. At least that is my understanding. There was a solid black version called the "Black Knight" and the ones with black hoods and desert sunset cab and fenders were called "Golden Demonstrators". I really can't say what it's worth... Slightly more than a similar 70 series. But in my opinion a much more desirable version.

the only way to tell if its a true 'black knight' or 'golden demo' is to take the serial # by the clutch pedal and send it to racine because the placard was just a sticker so they usauly came of but send your serial # to rich tworek at racine email is [email protected] and in my opinion there worth a little more than the average 70 series
