Changing all the fluids in a 970 I just bought. I was wondering the four plugs on bottom for the hydraulic oil, I know they must drain four different areas, but

1- is there only one place to put hydro oil back in, the one at the rear
2- how many gallons does it take to fill this baby back up

Thanks

Yes there is only one place on the back of the tractor used to add the hyd oil. Look at the sight glasses on the RH side of trans case for proper oil levels. These must be check with the engine off. With a hyd filter change the trans case will take approx.18 gal. to refill. And if this is a power shift there is 5 drain plugs. Rod.

It takes very special glasses to see the sight glass from the RH side. Most of us with normal vision have better luck on the LH side under the platform.

1370rod Thanks a bunch, I found the 5th drain plug, which I hadn't drained the day before. I also got 10gal more of hydro fluid. Thanks again. Next question, this was an early 970, you can tell it was tan then painted white, I can't find the serial number anywhere. I know it is supposed to be in the cab on the side of the console but I cant find it, so if they added the cab and this tractor came from the factory cab less, where would it have been on an open station tractor? Thanks in advance

Serial tag is just below the clutch pedal on the floor plate as in the first pic, second pic shows the other tag locations
